Shall we discuss the weather?

I was turned onto the My-Cast weather feature by brother Tad, who always stays at least two steps ahead of me on everything. I digress.

Since Internet surfers can gather weather forecasts from multitudinous sources, what sets My-Cast apart from the rest? Well for one thing you can have your weather delivered via html email up to four times per day. Secondly, My-Cast claims to provide weather information for smaller geographical areas. Why is that important? Well, let's say you were going to play golf tomorrow afternoon but the weather was iffy.

With My-Cast you could open an account for each of the golf courses in your area. Checking your My-Cast emails may reveal that one golf course will have better weather than the rest. Assuming My-Cast really can be accurate to within a few miles you might decide to take the kids to the beach on the south shore instead of the north shore. When the wireless service becomes available you might adjust your driving route to avoid poor weather.

How precise is My-Cast trying to be? Well, when you register at their Web site you don't just hand them your Zip Code. Using a map you drill down until you find your street location. Clicking on it provides My-Cast with your longitude and latitude.

So, is My-Cast a wonderful new weather tool or just the same old forecast in pretty packaging? You might ask Tad, he's always two steps ahead of me.
