Comment:
This latest release
of WinZip adds more features to an already feature-packed package. It can decode CAB files, TAR, gzip, UUencode,
BinHex encoding as well as the expected zip. Add-ons permit tackling more exotic formats.
WinZip can shrink almost any file, though already compressed data such as .jpeg change little in size. While mileage
varies, Access and Excel files can be reduced by 75%, Word files up to 90%. Great for storing hefty amounts of
data, even on 3½" floppies.
If saving all that space seems chancy, rest assured we've never lost data using WinZip.
Compressed files make for faster downloading email attachments. Don't be concerned if the recipient doesn't have
an unzip program, WinZip offers a self-extracting feature.
For those who suffer from unreadable MIME attachments (line after line of text gibberish) WinZip can reassemble
that mess into the original file.
Two "skins" come with WinZip, Classic for old timers, and Wizard for newcomers who'd like some assistance.
Working with major anti-virus programs WinZip can check for naughty files while uncompressing.
Happily, the Help file is detailed, supported by current online FAQs.
Check the site for a full list of features, then buy. We recommend it unhesitatingly. |
