Windows 95/98/Me/NT4.0/2000/XP Home & Professional COMMENT: "PhishGuard is a FREE service that detects and rapidly disables Internet "phishing" or "spoofing" attacks designed to steal critical financial data." Phishing and spoofing are scams where crooks send fake emails and create fake Websites to steal passwords, credit card, bank account and social security numbers. These spoofed emails and Websites appear to be the real deal and many people end up having their financial data and identities stolen. PhishGuard monitors the Websites you visit and identifies known malicious sites. When you attempt to go to a malicious site that requests personal or account information such as a link in what seems to be an authentic email, a warning window appears. 
The warning window has three options: Send, which takes you to the malicious site(not recommended and disabled by default); Cancel, to stop navigation(recommended); and Help, if your not sure what to do.
Open PhishGuard's main application to get an overview, submit a suspicious Website for review, change your preferences, go to the PhishGuard site, or to see the help menu.
To submit a suspicious Website for review open the Submit menu and drag and drop the URL into the provided field, PhishGuard will respond to your request in minutes and update its database accordingly.
PhishGuard takes some of the guess work out of protecting your info while executing transactions online, with its active blocking of malicious sites, a continuously updated database and a quick response to the submission of suspicious sites. PhishGuard currently works only with IE. The download requires your name, country, state, and postal code for registration (email address and telephone number are optional).
