COMMENT: Anyone who's online will inevitably need a backup ISP. The most economical way to go is a free service. Try NetZero or one of the many others. Most freebies put a floating ad banner on your monitor which invariably covers up whatever you really want to see. Frewwweb has done away with that, but in its place are endless ad windows which continue to annoy. NetZero recently made a smart move: they allow you to put their full-width banner at the top or bottom of your screen, above or below the browser area. The important viewing area is smaller, but you can see it all. We suggest you use your regular email client to send and receive messages rather than a Web-based service so you have all your email in one place. NetZero explains how to accomplish this. Online help is extensive but the tip to get around installed AOL 5.0 didn't work for us. Be cautioned that all these "free" services want to know a lot about you and track your online activities. And if you don't occasionally click on an ad you will likely be warned of imminent termination.
