COMMENT: IncrediMail has most Outlook Express features, including message folders, message rules and filters, identities, message blocking. What it brings to the email party are a whole lotta Letters (backgrounds), animations, sounds, Ecards, Notifiers. And the recipient doesn't need to download anything to enjoy your playfulness.

Sound alert

A handful of those goodies come with your initial download, but many more are available for free and easy downloading at IncrediMail's site. Pick a sound or other embellishment and it automatically goes into the appropriate folder. Or, add your own -- there's even a built-in sound recorder.

(For reasons unknown we could not get the sounds to function at the receiving end.)

Animation

One really neat feature is the ability to right click a .gif animation on any site and send it to your animation folder. In other words, you can steal cool stuff (for personal use only, of course).

You might well ask the difference between a Letter and an Ecard. Letters are similar to Outlook Express Stationery, but more interesting. Ecards contain more elaborate graphics for specific occasions such as birthdays, Halloween, etc. In either case you can add a sound and/or an animation.

You might also ask what a Notifier is. They are cutesy ways of letting you know "You've got mail."

If you wish to make IncrediMail your default email client it's easy to import your current contacts and messages. We suggest you try it for a while first since you can run it in addition to your current client.

If you find the ad messages just too much to bear, you can buy advertising-free IncrediMail Premium for USD29.95.
